ACH, SEPA, Wire, or USDC: Choosing an Invoice Payment Method

The best invoice payment method is usually the one the client can use correctly and the sender can receive compliantly. Local bank rails are familiar to finance teams, while stablecoins can be useful for clients that already hold digital dollars. Offering a small set of compatible choices is better than displaying routes that cannot complete.

ACH and wire for USD invoices

ACH push is often convenient for US clients paying a USD invoice from a domestic bank account. Wire transfers may suit higher-value or time-sensitive payments, but the payer should review its bank's cutoff times and fees.

Both routes can require a unique deposit message. Omitting or changing that reference may delay automatic matching even when the amount is correct.

SEPA and Faster Payments

SEPA is designed for euro payments between participating accounts and is a familiar option for many European clients. Faster Payments serves supported GBP transfers in the United Kingdom.

The invoice currency and generated bank instructions must match. A payer should not send another currency to an IBAN or account simply because its banking interface offers conversion.

USDC and other supported stablecoins

Stablecoins can be practical when the client already holds the required token. Checkout instructions identify the token, network, amount, destination, and any memo. Network fees and timing vary by chain.

Token availability can be restricted by jurisdiction. If a provider rejects a token for the customer, choose another displayed route rather than attempting to bypass the restriction.

How to present payment choices

Show payment methods after the client opens the secure invoice link, not as a long block of static account details inside every PDF. Dynamic checkout can limit choices to routes that fit the saved invoice and settlement configuration.

Regardless of method, keep the invoice amount immutable, display copy buttons for important fields, and confirm payment from provider events or polling before updating the balance due.
